Pt. 1: Getting to Nepal | Hiking the EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK | EBC 2022 // THIS is the story of how I said “Yes” to my very first international trek, hiking up to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

Part 1 of the “Hiking The Everest Base Camp Trek” multi-video series.

It took us over 30+ hours (including 3 flights: Seattle – Chicago, Chicago – Doha, Qatar and Doha – Kathmandu) with a 10-hour layover in Doha, Qatar, to get to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Once we were in Kathmandu, we would take a day off to acclimate to a new city, explore a new culture and adjust to a new time zone while also getting to indulge in the local cuisine.

The next morning, we hopped on a very small plane and flew out of Kathmandu into Lukla, one of the world’s most dangerous airports due to strong winds, being set at a high altitude of 2,845 meters or 9,333 feet and having single, short runway that angles down to the valley below.

From Lukla, we would officially start our trek up to Everest Base Camp.
